The Ashbourne Giants defeated the Dublin City Hurricanes in A Division action at the National Baseball Centre in Corkagh Park.
The Dublin City Hurricanes got off to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning behind a double from Ricardo Taratini. The teams then exchanged runs in the 3rd before the Hurricanes opened an 8-1 lead in the 4th with Steve Divito driving in two of the 4 runs in the inning.
The Giants started their comeback in the 6th, scoring two run to close the gap to 9-3 before breaking lose in the 7th. They scored 5 runs in the 7th with Fionn Gallahar-Hall driving in 3 runs with a double to right field.
In the 8th, Giants drew even at 10 when Hector Zambrano scored on an error but the Hurricanes drew ahead in the bottom half of the inning as Roberto Marquez hit a long sacrifice fly to left field to drive in Jorge Barbeito.
Fionn Gallahar-Hall scores the tying run in the top of the 9th before Eduardo Hernandez drives Ryan Wiebe across for the eventual winning run. Hector Zambrano then drove in Diego Corvalan for an insurance run.
Veteran pitcher Jaime Cuevas shuts down the Hurricanes in the 9th for the win.
Eduardo Hernandez (3 for 5 with 3 RBIS) and Miguel Moreno (2 for 5 with 3 runs) led the offense for the Giants with Hector Zambrano and Fionn Gallahar-Hall having 2 hit games. Jaime Cuevas pitched 1 and 1/3 scoreless innings for the win. Patrick Mitchell also pitched 3 and 2/3rd innings giving up 1 run in relief to give the Giants the chance to comeback.
Jose Martinez, Steve Divito and Ricardo Taratini all had 2 hits for the Hurricanes.
