Ashbourne Giants U21 Continue High Scoring Ways in Defeating Dublin City Hurricanes B 24-11

The Ashbourne Giants climb to 4-1 on the season, defeating the Dublin City Hurricanes B 24-11 on Sunday.

The visiting Giants jumped out to a quick lead in the first. Fionn Gallahar-Hall lead off the game with a triple to CF. Patrick Mitchell doubled to score Gallahar-Hall. After Ryan Wiebe walked and stole second, Baseball Ireland legend Sean Mitchell drove them in.

After Jay Acuna scored for the Canes in their half of the first, the U21 responded with another 4 runs in the second. David Casey, Billy Cronin, Fionn Gallahar-Hall and Patrick Mitchell scored. The young legs of the Giants were flying as they stole 5 bases that inning.

Things go interesting in the 3rd as the Hurricanes scored 6 runs to make the score 8-7. However, the U21 took advantage of the wildness of the Canes pitcher and responded with 7 runs of their own to make the score 15-7. The Hurricanes refused to die and scored 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the 4th to make it 15-11.

The Giants offense continued to roll, scoring 3 runs in each of the 5th, 6th and 7th innings while shutting down the Hurricanes to win 24-11.

Ryan Wiebe and Patrick Mitchell led the offense for the Giants. Wiebe scored went 01- with 5 walks, 4 runs scored and 4 stolen bases. Mitchell went 3 for 5 with 4 runs scored and 3 stolen bases.
