Giants Lose in National Championship

The Ashbourne Giants lost to defending champion Mariners Baseball in two hard fought games.

Already playing without injured starting centre fielder Ryan Wiebe, the Giants suffered a huge blow as second baseman Fionn Gallahar-Hall came up lame on the second play of the game.

Despite the injuries, the Giants scored 3 in the opening inning. However, they gave up 7 in the next inning as their starting pitching became a bit wild.  The game ended 15-5 Mariners.

Game 2 was much closer.  The Mariners jumped out to a 3-1 lead before the Giants tied it 3-3.  The Mariners extended it to 7-3 after 7.  However, the Giants scored 6 in the 8th and 9th innings to take a 9-7 lead.  Unfortunately the Mariners scored 3 in the bottom of the 9th to win, 10-9.

Congratulations to the Mariners
