In a rain shortened game, the Giants clinched first place in the Irish Baseball League’s B Division with a 3-2 victory over the Belfast North Stars.
The Giants jumped out to a quick lead in the top of the first when Danny Keane doubled home Ryan Wiebe to score the games first run. The lead was extended to 2-0 when Robert Connolly drew a bases loaded walk to score Paul Carey. Danny Keane finished the scoring in the inning when he scored off a sacrifice fly by Kevin Mitchell.
The Stars attempted a comeback, scoring single runs in the bottoms of the 3rd and 4th innings as Sean Shackley and Mark Smith scored. Giants veteran pitcher Sean Mitchell shut the door in the bottom of the 5th for the 3-2 win.
Danny Keane led the offence with 3 hits, an RBI and a run scored.
